Opt-in Transmog: overview

Visit a transmogrifier to choose appearances or switch the system off. With transmog viewing disabled, other players appear in their equipped gear. The Classic visual preset starts with the appearance system disabled, but collecting appearances still works.

Dungeon Uncommon and Rare bind-on-pickup appearances go to eligible looters when the item is looted. Epic raid appearances belong only to the player who receives the bound item. A gear upgrade can therefore go to the player who needs it without another eligible player losing the ordinary dungeon appearance.

Armor-type rules still apply: plate appearances cover plate items, and cloth appearances cover cloth items. High-level appearance restrictions are removed at level 60 for valid collected appearances. Hidden helms and cloaks remain visible choices even when other transmog viewing is disabled.

Key mechanics and preparation

  • Collection progress continues while transmog viewing is disabled.
  • Plate maps to plate and cloth maps to cloth.
  • Most high-level appearances require level 60.
  • Hide helm and cloak remain visible choices.
