Mining 1–300 Leveling Guide

Mining gathers ore, stone and gems for Blacksmithing and Engineering. Find Minerals highlights nearby veins; smelting turns ore into the bars used by crafters.

Mark each step as you finish it and check off the materials you have collected. Progress is saved in this browser, shared between English and Korean, and does not require an account.

Gathering route: 1–300

SkillGathering targetsRoute and instructions
Copper Vein

Route: Starting zones, Zephras Isle

Keep a Mining Pick in your bags and Find Minerals active. Circle rocky hills rather than crossing the same open field repeatedly.

Tin Vein, Silver Vein

Route: The Barrens, Ashenvale, Redridge Mountains

Tin requires 65; Silver requires 75. Keep Coarse Stone for Engineering or Blacksmithing.

Iron Deposit, Gold Vein

Route: Arathi Highlands, Desolace, Stranglethorn Vale

Mine Iron from 125 and Gold from 155. Smelting does not bridge 140–155, so mine nodes during that interval.

Mithril Deposit

Route: Tanaris, The Hinterlands, Azshara

Follow mountain edges and caves. Stop relying on ordinary smelting for skill after 185. Train Artisan at 200.

Truesilver Deposit, Mithril Deposit

Route: Tanaris, The Hinterlands, Azshara

Add Truesilver at 230. Mithril remains useful while you work toward Small Thorium at 245.

Small Thorium Vein

Route: Un’Goro Crater, Winterspring, Eastern Plaguelands

Mine Small Thorium from 245. Follow the zone perimeter and return through rocky central areas.

Rich Thorium Vein

Route: Winterspring, Eastern Plaguelands, Un’Goro Crater

Add Rich Thorium at 275 and continue mining Small Thorium. Each node can award one Mining skill point, not one point per interaction.

Training and skill caps

Train Journeyman at skill 50, Expert at 125 and Artisan at 200 before hitting the 75, 150 and 225 skill caps. Capital-city trainers can teach all four ranks.

    Preparation and practical tips

    1. Learn Mining, obtain a Mining Pick and activate Find Minerals.
    2. Begin with Copper veins in a starting zone.
    3. Train smelting recipes as you unlock new ores; compare bar and ore prices before selling.
    • Keep Rough, Coarse, Heavy, Solid and Dense Stone when you mine. Blacksmithing uses grinding stones and Engineering uses blasting powder.
    • Copper and Tin can also be smelted for early skill gains. The 140–155 gap requires mining, and ordinary smelting stops being a leveling route after 185.

    Useful pairing: Blacksmithing / Engineering

    Mining at a campsite

Lodestone provides melee Attack Power. Rock Garden produces a growing mining node, and Molten Foundry supports later smelting.
