Holy heals with direct casts, Holy Shock and planned party-healing windows. Infusion of Light changes the casting rhythm, while Light’s Vigil gives the spec a dedicated group-healing tool.
Beta gameplay guide · Updated 12 October 2026
Rotation and opener
Before a pull, apply the assigned Aura and Blessings, check the tank’s position and prepare to heal as damage starts. Keep Flash of Light ready for moderate damage, Holy Light for a larger health deficit and Holy Shock for an urgent heal while moving.
Combat priority
Flash of Light
Flash of Light is your primary choice for smaller, frequent heals. Its short cast time makes it useful when party members are taking moderate damage.
Holy Light
Holy Light restores more health per cast. Use it when the tank or another party member has lost a significant amount of health and you have enough time to complete the cast.
Holy Shock
Holy Shock provides an instant heal when someone needs immediate healing or when you must move and cannot stop to cast.
Divine Favor
Pair the guaranteed critical heal with a useful Holy Shock or Holy Light. The important part is landing the amplified heal on damage which actually needs it.
Light's Vigil
The deep Holy build adds group-healing support. Prepare its target before group damage and use the Holy Shock interaction; the level-30 allocation has not yet reached this talent.
Purify
Remove a dangerous eligible debuff promptly. One dispel can prevent more damage than another small heal, particularly when the effect keeps ticking.
Multiple targets and dungeon pulls
At low levels, handle party damage by triage: keep the tank safe, rescue a threatened damage dealer with Holy Shock, then use direct heals on the remaining injuries.
With Light's Vigil, plan group healing around its effect and Holy Shock rather than expecting Flash of Light to become an automatic party heal. Stand where all intended targets remain in range.
Resources and cooldowns
Avoid casting a large heal into a nearly full-health target. Cancel a cast that will only overheal, but do not wait so long that the tank dies while you conserve mana. Match your spell to both damage and the time available.
Divine Favor is proactive healing support. Use it for a known damage spike instead of holding it until you have no time to choose a target.
Lay on Hands is the emergency recovery button, but it empties your Mana. After using it, immediately plan a Mana recovery step and ask for defensive cooldowns if the fight continues.
Blessing of Protection can rescue a player under physical attack, and Blessing of Freedom can free a rooted ally. Check who needs help before continuing a routine heal cast.
Specialization mechanics and group play
During dungeon pulls, keep the tank alive first, then heal other party members as needed. Avoid repeatedly casting large heals on players who have only lost a small amount of health.
If you expect heavy incoming damage, begin casting before the tank reaches dangerously low health.
Infusion of Light triggers when Holy Shock or Flash of Light critically heals. It reduces the cast time of your next Holy Light within 15 seconds; at two ranks, the reduction is 1 second. Use the faster Holy Light when someone needs a larger heal.
Before a pull, assign Auras and Blessings with other Paladins. Concentration Aura helps casting under pressure; Devotion Aura supports a tank against physical attacks.
Maintain a useful Light or Wisdom Judgement when you can do so safely. Do not move into danger or abandon the tank merely to contribute a little extra damage.

PvP talent choices and play
Use instant healing while moving between safe positions. Repentance from a hybrid build or other control has an opportunity cost in healing talents; prioritize survival, interrupts by teammates and line of sight before chasing damage.
Recommended gear & upgrades
Forever beta equipment options. Compare level requirements and sources; these are not final launch rankings.
Prefer equipment which improves your healing output. Armor type is secondary to the healing job; a useful cloth or leather item can beat a plate item with no relevant caster stats.
Intellect
A larger Mana pool gives you room for heavy healing and emergencies. Divine Intellect supports this investment.
Spirit and regeneration
Reverence enables Spirit-based regeneration during casting. Recovery matters across repeated pulls, not only in the first few seconds.
Critical Strike
Interacts with Holy Power and Illumination. Compare it with reliable healing and Mana rather than treating every critical strike as guaranteed recovery.
Stamina
Enough health to survive unavoidable damage lets you keep healing. Do not stand in melee to exploit plate armor when a safer ranged position is available.
Mana recovery during a long pull. Drink between fights as well; a potion is a backup rather than a reason to begin every pull nearly empty.
Elixir of Wisdom
An Intellect buff for a larger casting budget while leveling and running dungeons.
Minor Arcane Elixir
A spell-damage preparation option for Holy-damage attacks. It is not a healing elixir and should not replace healing gear.
Greater Healing Potion
An emergency health button for tanking or solo play, especially when stopping to cast a heal would be dangerous.
Wool Bandage
Restore health between fights without consuming the Mana needed for the next pull.
Roasted Boar Meat
An inexpensive cooked food option while leveling. Keep food and drink together so recovery does not leave one resource empty.
Useful profession pairings
Herbalism and Alchemy supply Mana potions and Intellect elixirs for repeated dungeon sessions. Gather while traveling rather than stopping the group to restock during a run.
Mining and Engineering trade direct self-supply of healing consumables for devices and crafted utility. If you choose this route, budget for the healing supplies you will still need.
Alliance: Human and Dwarf are the Paladin choices. Human Sword Specialization and Dwarf Mace Specialization have revised critical-strike effects; choose around the weapon and role rather than old weapon-skill assumptions.
Horde: Undead can play Paladin in Forever. Will of the Forsaken provides an answer to fear, sleep and charm; Cannibalize supports recovery outside combat.
Stoneform is useful for removing harmful physical-related debuffs, while Human Will to Survive provides a stun response. Survival and keeping control of your character matter alongside raw damage.
Leveling and solo play
Holy is strongest when you have allies to heal. For solo questing, keep a separate damage weapon and use Holy Strike and Judgement instead of wearing only healing gear for every enemy.
Before Holy Shock is available, plan movement around Flash of Light and Holy Light casts. Stop briefly in a safe position, heal, then move; jumping repeatedly does not solve a falling tank health bar.
At level 30, the displayed Holy allocation brings Holy Shock and supporting healing talents. Take on a manageable dungeon pull to learn when the instant heal is needed rather than using it on every cooldown.
Quest between dungeon trips and collect dungeon quests before entering. Keep a wand-free weapon plan appropriate to Paladin: you still need melee attacks to deal sustained solo damage.
Dispel the intended party member directly from their frame. This does not select an eligible debuff automatically.
