Fury Warrior guide

Fury is a sustained melee damage spec built around frequent attacks and Rage spending. Bloodthirst, Whirlwind and Execute form the core priority once available; Death Wish and Recklessness create planned damage windows.

Beta gameplay guide · Updated 12 October 2026

Rotation and opener

Keep Battle Shout active and use Berserker Stance for the damage cycle. Coordinate Sunder Armor assignments and use Bloodrage to establish Rage.

Combat priority

  1. Battle Shout

Refresh Battle Shout before starting a damage window. Do this while approaching the target so your first useful melee globals can be spent attacking.

  2. Bloodthirst

Keep Bloodthirst available during sustained uptime. Reserve enough Rage for it instead of filling every swing with Heroic Strike.

  3. Whirlwind

Use Whirlwind after checking Rage for Bloodthirst. Its value rises when both weapons can hit additional enemies beside the priority target.

  4. Heroic Strike

Queue Heroic Strike when Rage is genuinely surplus. If the next Bloodthirst would be delayed, stop queuing it and let ordinary swings rebuild your resources.

  5. Execute

Use Execute below 20% target health. Enter that phase with offensive cooldowns ready when the encounter length allows, rather than exhausting them just before the boss reaches it.

Multiple targets and dungeon pulls

Whirlwind is your direct cleave attack. Follow the tank’s marked target while hitting nearby enemies that are already under control.

Cleave is a Rage spender for grouped targets. Replace unnecessary single-target Heroic Strikes with it, but leave sufficient Rage for your main cooldown attacks.

Resources and cooldowns

Auto-attacks supply much of your Rage. A missed attack and time away from the target both disrupt the cycle. Treat Heroic Strike as an excess-Rage spender, not a button to queue on every low-level swing.

  • Pair Death Wish with sustained melee uptime and useful on-use effects. A boss about to become untargetable is a poor activation point.
  • Use Recklessness in a substantial damage window or Execute phase. Stop optional Heroic Strikes if they would delay the attacks that benefit from the window.
  • Use Bloodrage when you need Rage for Bloodthirst or Whirlwind. Keep Berserker Rage ready when the encounter’s fear effect would otherwise remove your uptime.

Specialization mechanics and group play

Dual Wield Specialization increases off-hand contribution; inspect both weapons when comparing upgrades. A weak off hand is not merely an empty stat slot.

Attack from behind in PvE and keep uptime during movement. A few additional armor stats rarely make up for repeatedly losing whole attack windows.

Stats and equipment decisions

Priority / equipmentHow to use it
Main-hand and off-hand damageUpgrade both weapons. The off hand contributes damage and Rage through Dual Wield Specialization; it is not merely a place to hold bonus stats.
HitDual wielding puts attack reliability at the center of gearing. Evaluate talent bonuses separately for the main hand and off hand; do not import a fixed Classic cap.
Strength / Attack PowerImprove the physical attacks and Bloodthirst cycle. Maintain enough attack reliability to turn those stats into actual hits.
Critical strike / AgilityCritical strikes support Fury’s damage windows and Flurry interaction. Avoid sacrificing a substantial weapon upgrade solely for a small critical-strike increase.

Enchanting equipment

For inexpensive leveling preparation, Enchant Bracer - Inferior Stamina and Enchant Chest - Inferior Stamina add survival to equipment you expect to keep. Prioritize an important weapon or role-specific item upgrade before spending heavily on temporary armor.

Consumables and preparation

Healing Potion

Carry a level-appropriate Healing Potion for an emergency. Use it before the next unavoidable hit kills you rather than waiting for a healer who is already occupied.

Rage Potion

Use the appropriate learned-level version for resource recovery. Higher-level consumables are preparation for later content, not a requirement for an early beta character.

Heavy Silk Bandage

A First Aid recovery option for characters who meet its requirement. Use it during a safe break between attacks; incoming damage interrupts bandaging.

Useful profession pairings

Engineering offers active tools for dangerous pulls and PvP. Bind the devices you actually carry; selecting the profession without using its consumables supplies no practical benefit.

Alchemy supports a regular potion supply, while Herbalism funds that supply during leveling. Buy only the consumables you can use at your present level.

Blacksmithing is an equipment route for weapons and armor. Check the specific recipe and its availability rather than assuming a profession choice automatically awards an endgame weapon.

Mining · Blacksmithing · Engineering · First Aid · Recipe database · Camping buffs

Races and racial abilities

Human is a weapon-specific damage option through Sword Specialization; its Forever benefit is critical strike rather than the old racial weapon skill bonus.

Orc offers Blood Fury for an offensive window. Dwarf Stoneform and Tauren War Stomp are practical tanking and control choices; select for the job rather than declaring one race best for every encounter.

Leveling and solo play

  1. Fury focuses on sustained melee damage and frequent weapon attacks. Use Bloodthirst and Whirlwind once they become available, and manage Rage so you can continue attacking without unnecessary downtime.
  2. As the Arms talents develop, practice Overpower reactions and use a two-handed weapon with competitive damage. Keep a one-handed weapon and shield for dungeon tanking rather than buying a separate entire armor set.
  3. Use Victory Rush after a qualifying kill when available. Plan the next pull around recovery and cooldowns, and avoid spending all your money on armor upgrades that barely change survival.

Useful macros

Focus Pummel

#showtooltip Pummel
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Pummel

Interrupts your hostile focus without changing your damage target. Pummel still needs the correct stance, range and resources; the macro does not bypass those conditions.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • Fast sustained melee gameplay
  • Strong execute phase
  • Cooldowns reward uninterrupted uptime

Limitations

  • Needs reliable Rage and weapon upgrades
  • Loses damage while being kited
  • Offensive cooldowns can increase exposure

Common mistakes

  • Queuing Heroic Strike with too little Rage
  • Using cooldowns before a movement phase
  • Ignoring interrupts while concentrating on the damage cycle
